SILVER Anniversary Banquet & Pacific Bridge Awards
(09/28/2009) The Board of Directors of the Gay Asian Pacific Support
Network (GAPSN) cordially invites the community to participate in 25 YEARS
OF PRIDE: GAPSN Silver Anniversary Banquet & Pacific Bridge Awards to be
held on Saturday, October 17, 2009 from 6pm to 10pm at the Ocean Seafood
Restaurant, 750 North Hill Street in Chinatown, Downtown Los Angeles, CA,
90012.
This annual celebration and fundraiser will commemorate GAPSN's founding
originally as GARP or the Gay Asian Rap in October 1984 by a group of gay
Asian American students at California State University at Long Beach and the
past twenty-five years of the group's events and activities. The mission of
GAPSN is to provide a safe and supportive environment for Asian and Pacific
Islander (API) gay and bisexual men to meet, network, and advocate on behalf
of our community.
The evening will also feature the presentation of the Pacific Bridge Awards
to be bestowed upon Actor and Community Activist George Takei, The Stone Bar
in Hollywood, and Southern California Edison/Edison International in
recognition of their outstanding support for the Los Angeles API LGBT
(Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) communities.
Master of Ceremonies will be Sanjay Chhugani, former President of SATRANG
(South Asian LGBT organization of Southern California) and entertainment by
Harlem Lee, winner of NBC's FAME television competition.
Sponsors of the event include the Asian Pacific AIDS Intervention Team
(APAIT), Southern California Edison/Edison International, and GAPSN
SuperSTAR supporting member Gaylan Wommack. Sponsorship opportunities as
well as individual tables and tickets are still available. Cost for GAPSN
